Proyecto Hacienda Metepec happens on and off the field site.
Proyecto Hacienda Metepec’s goal is to better understand the identity of the post collapse/pre Aztec residents of this ancient city. Through field excavations and laboratory studies, we aim to increase our understanding of the economy, demographics, everyday life, and ultimately what contributed to the collapse of Teotihuacan.
Field Work
Starting with a drone survey in 2021, since 2022 each summer our team further surveys and excavates the site. We conduct both horizontal and test pit excavations.
Labwork
Ongoing studies are creating topographical maps of the site surface, analyzing the ceramic and lithic technology, and sourcing the obsidian artifacts.
